Ohio Chapter IASIU offers many opportunities to increase your knowledge!

Certifications

IASIU offers three certification programs:

  • The Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) program is an accrediting process for individuals with the specialized skills required to detect, investigate and deter insurance fraud.

  • The Certified Insurance Fraud Analyst (CIFA) program is an accrediting process that covers all topics that deem an analyst to be well rounded and versed in all aspects of fraud analysis.

  • The Certified Insurance Fraud Representative (CIFR) is an accrediting process for claims representatives who work with SIU on a regular basis and desire to move into the SIU field.

  • All programs have high standards for admission and testing, which includes adherence to IASIU’s code of ethics and a demonstrated competency through mandatory continuing professional education.

CIFI

The Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) program is an accrediting process for individuals with the specialized skills required to detect, investigate and deter insurance fraud. The program has a high standard for admission and testing, which includes adherence to IASIU’s code of ethics, and a demonstrated competency through mandatory continuing professional education.

 

Setting Up an Exam:
Examination applications are accepted any time of the year. The tests are administered by a proctor that is CIFI certified.  Tests will be given upon individual requests, and IASIU will find a proctor in your area to administer the examination. Periodically chapters will administer exams to a group; these exam dates are posted on the IASIU website. The CIFI exam is administered each year at the Annual Seminar. If an IASIU chapter wishes to sponsor an exam, they must contact the IASIU office for approval at least 90 days prior to the test date.

 

CIFI Application Fee:
The CIFI exam fee is $200 for members and $400 for nonmembers. If you qualify for membership, your membership application and payment fees must be received and application approved prior to submitting your CIFI application in order to qualify for the lower member rate of $200. CIFA

The Certified Insurance Fraud Analyst (CIFA) certification is an accrediting process that covers all topics that deem an analyst to be well rounded and versed in all aspects of fraud analysis. The program has a high standard for admission and testing which includes adherence to IASIU’s code of ethics.

 

Setting Up an Exam:

The tests are taken on a computer and administered by a proctor that is CIFA certified.  Tests will be given upon individual requests, and IASIU will find a proctor in your area to administer the examination. Periodically chapters will administer exams to a group; these exam dates are posted on the IASIU website.  The CIFA exam is administered each year at the Annual Seminar. If an IASIU chapter wishes to sponsor an exam, they must contact the IASIU office for approval at least 90 days prior to the test date.

 

CIFA Application Fee:

The CIFA exam is $200 and only available to IASIU members at this time. IASIU membership dues must be paid in full prior to taking the CIFA exam.

CIFR

The Certified Insurance Fraud Representative (CIFR) program is a certification program for claim representatives.  These claims representatives possess the requisite specialized skills required for the early detection of fraud, to properly conduct preliminary claims investigations and to provide quality referral to SIU. The program has a high standard for admission and testing which includes adherence to IASIU’s code of ethics, as well as the demonstration of competency through mandatory continuing professional education.

CIFR Application Fee:

Submit an application at any time throughout the year. A $70 application fee is required.

The requirements in order to attain the CIFR designation will be made of the following four components:

1. Certification Reference

2. The completion of 10 NICTA Courses

3. Evidence of Training/Seminar Attendance: Applicants must attend an NICB or IASIU sponsored training session/conference where a minimum of five hours of fraud prevention training was offered. 

  • Your attendance at an Ohio IASIU training seminar will satisfy this requirement

4. The completion of 10 hours of field investigation observation.
